This may not be the type of tournament you are used to participating in, however, we guarantee lots of fun, food, prizes and a chance to meet new friends. So come prepared to play hard, eat lots and learn some new things about racquetball.
We are so sad to announce... that long time racquetball player and recipient of the ARA's Volunteer Recognition Award for his outstanding contribution to the racquetball community, Tom Holmwood has passed away. Tom was the go-to guy at Fish Creek Racquet Club in Calgary and will be sorely missed. His memorial will be held on Wednesday October 12, 2011 at 2 pm at McInnis and Holloway Funeral Home, 14441 Banister Road SE, Calgary - very near the racquetball club.
Coby Iwassa, the 2011 Canadian Junior National U14 champion and the U18 silver medalist... placed third at the 2011 IRF World Junior Racquetball Championship in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Jack McBride, Barry Ould and Al Loughlin win Gold at the 2011 Senior National Racquetball Championships... Congratulations to doubles partners Jack McBride and Barry Ould winners of the 65+ Men's Doubles. In singles, Jack McBride won the 70+ Division and Al Loughlin won the 65+ Division. Alberta had a strong showing in many of the other divisions.
Kevin Caouette and Coby Iwaasa bring home the Gold... Congratulations to Kevin Caouette winner of the Boys 18U Doubles and Coby Iwaasa winner of the Boys 14U Singles at the 2011 Junior National Racquetball Championships in Burnaby, British Columbia. The 2011 Alberta Provincial Singles Racquetball Championships
March 18 – 20, 2011 at the Mayfield Athletic Club was a huge success with 57 competitors ranging in age from 8 - 73! Coby Iwaasa took home the Gold in both the Men's Open and Boys 14 U Divisions. Other first place finishers were:

The Lethbridge Winter Classic Racquetball Tournament Feb. 11-12, 2011 was an exciting event with 44 competitors representing Alberta and Saskatchewan. Coby Iwaasa came out on top in the Men’s Open Division winning all 4 of his matches! Other first place finishers were:

RACQUETBALL CANADA SELECTION EVENT... The Alberta Racquetball Association hosted the Racquetball Canada Selection Event at the Mayfield Athletic Club the weekend of November 5 – 7. There were a few special events for our members at the same time. Congratulations to the team of Marc Caouette and John Halko who won the skills competition with 32 points. Second Place finishers were Glen Yaretz and Logan Hordyski with 31 points.
ARA SELECTS NEW TOURNAMENT RACQUETBALL... The Alberta Racquetball Association will be using the Ektelon Black Racquetball this year at our sanctioned events. As an incentive for joining the ARA, we will be giving our members a can of the new racquetballs! They are on order and should be available from your coach or league director by the end of the month.
Barry Ould wins Gold at the 2010 Senior National Racquetball Championships... Congratulations to Barry Ould winner of the 65+ Men's Division. After a week of competition in Burlington, Ontario... Racquetball Canada has announced the 2010 Canadian Junior National Team. The Alberta Racquetball Team members who successfully competed for spots on the Junior National Team are 18U James Slamko (Edmonton) 14U Mckenzie Brayley (Calgary) 14U Coby Iwaasa (Lethbridge). These athletes will have the opportunity to attend Junior Worlds in Los Angeles in November 2010 to represent Canada. In addition, 10U Alexis Iwaasa earned a spot on the Junior Development Team.
